Bolidt continues its success in the hatchery industry. Van Gent hatchery, a long-time leader in the field of egg hatchery, commissioned Bolidt to install a new Bolidtop® flooring system in various areas of its hatchery facilities. Over the years, Bolidt has successfully carried out a range of flooring projects in the poultry industry. The quality of the flooring is a deciding factor in this sector. As newly-hatched chicks are very vulnerable to diseases, hygiene is of the utmost importance. That is why a top quality flooring system is essential in a hatchery. It is exactly because of the quality of its flooring systems that Van Gent chose Bolidt.
The van Gent hatchery has been in this industry for many years, the last 25 of these as a parent stock breeder hatchery for Cobb, a global player in broiler breeding. At the hatchery, incubators are used to hatch the eggs. Once they have hatched, the young chicks are transported from the van Gent hatchery to other hatcheries across the globe.
Especially in a hatchery, the quality of the flooring is crucially important. Because the health of the young chicks is so vulnerable, even the slightest deterioration in hygienic conditions can have serious consequences. The flooring system that is installed in a hatchery environment, must be equipped for such exacting requirements. Another important aspect is the durability of the flooring system.
Bolidtop® 700 is ideally suited for this application. This high-tech flooring system from Bolidt is mechanically compacted, and therefore absolutely smooth. The floor surface does not have a single irregularity, which is an advantage when it comes to hygiene.
Bolidt installed Bolidtop® 700 in the new incubator rooms at the van Gent hatchery. These are the rooms, in which the eggs are kept at a controlled temperature for the first eighteen days. From there, they are transferred to the hatchery rooms where the eggs will hatch after about four days. The flooring in these rooms, as well as in the meeting and tank rooms, has also been installed by Bolidt.
With the installation of the Bolidtop® 700 system, all the rooms at the van Gent hatchery have been provided with a high-quality, durable and hygienic floor finish. Because the hatching process had to continue uninterrupted while the flooring was being installed, Bolidt completed the project in four separate phases.
Bolidtop® 700 has a slip resistant finish and is designed to withstand the weight of (heavy) machinery. The system is pressure, impact and shock resistant, and therefore highly suitable for use in this sector of the poultry industry.
As mentioned earlier, the flooring system scores particularly well in terms of hygiene and durability, but the subsequent installation of equipment also had to be taken into account.
The incubator rooms have been set up with high-end equipment from Petersime, the world leading supplier of industrial incubators and hatchery equipment. Bolidt has a close working relationship with Petersime. This company also benefits from a perfectly finished floor, as it enables them to efficiently place their equipment.
In addition to van Gent hatchery, Bolidt has provided hatcheries throughout the world with Bolidtop® flooring systems:
